About the Journal

Timorese Journal of Social & Business Research (TJSBR) is an interdisciplinary academic publication linked to the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Universidade Católica Timorense (UCT) São João Paulo II. It adopts an annual system of continuous publication. The objective of the journal is the dissemination of scientific and technological knowledge within the broad fields of social sciences and business, welcoming original articles and research outcomes derived from empirical or bibliographic studies.

The journal seeks to promote innovative approaches to contemporary issues by fostering dialogue across the various disciplines of social and business. It’s open to contributions from both national and international researchers and is supported by an editorial board composed of scholars from diverse institutions and regions, as well as international consultants, thereby ensuring plurality and scientific quality in its publications.  

Timorese Journal of Social and Business Research (TJSBR) is a multidisciplinary journal that publishes high-quality,  double-blind peer-reviewed manuscript of interdisciplinary in both content and methodology. The TJSBR covers all field of Business and Social Sciences, including but not limited to the following areas:

Peer Review Process

Peer Review:

TJSBR follows double-blind peer review process and is committed to publishing high quality works with significant policy implications and scholary contribution to the literature. The decision about each manuscript is taken following procedure:

The peer-review process:

  1. A designated member of the editorial board will make an initial assessment of the quality and suitability of a submission regarding scope and originality. The editor also checks plagiarism at this stage using Grammarly software. This assessment allows our qualified reviewers to save their time and resource constraints. Paper written within the guidelines regarding the structure of the paper.
  2. Once the designated internal editorial board member is satisfied with the suitability of a submission, it is then sent to two anonymous peer reviewers for their comment.    
  3. The reviewer will assign marks and make a comment about following six categories:
    1. The originality of the paper
    2. The value of the research objective and research gap.
    3. The soundness of the conceptual and technical or methodological framework.
    4. Insightful discussion in the result and discussion section
    5. The policy implications of the paper
    6. Academic writing quality.
  4. Once the final comments of the reviewers are received, a decision is made about a submission within four weeks of submission.

Open Access Policy

TJSBR is an open-access journal, which means that all content is freely available to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to, without prior permission from the publisher or the author. This policy aligns with the “Budapest Open Access Initiative” (BOAI), ensuring broad public acess and knowledge exchange.
